Q. What are the requirements for a Private Pilot’s Certificate?
A. The Federal Aviation Administration requires a minimum of 40 flight hours to obtain a PPL. The FAA also requires that 20 of those hours must be with an instructor. However, the national average is 65 hours with 35 hours of instruction.

Q. What is the cost?
A. The cost is based on flying and instructor times, as well as materials, medical exam, written tests, etc. The average cost at our school for a Private Pilot Certificate is approximately $9,000.

Q. Is there an age limit?
A. In order to solo, you must be 16 years old and to hold a license you must be 17.

Q. How long will it take me to get my certificate?
A. It depends on how often you fly. Everyone is different, we recommend 2 – 3 times per week and it should take about four to six months at that rate.

Q. Why should I learn at Lunken Airport?
A. There are 2 reasons. First, Lunken has a Control Tower. You will learn to communicate on the radio and get very comfortable talking with not only Lunken but Greater Cincinnati’s controllers as well. Secondly, Lunken is a small airport, but it has multiple runways and taxiways. You will get very comfortable using the runways and taxiways. Consequently, when you obtain your license you will not be afraid to fly to an airport with a control tower and more than one runway.

Q. What is contained in my student pilot kit?
A. When you register you will receive the Jeppesen Student Pilot Kit.   It contains all the materials that you will need to train with us.

Q. Do you offer financing?
A. Yes, we offer financing through Pilot Finance Inc. Check it out at www.pilotfinance.com

Q. Do you rent aircraft?
A. Yes, all of our aircraft are for rent.

Q. When can I train?
A. We are open seven days per week, all year round. We are here to serve your flight training needs and we fly on your schedule.

Our Fleet rates are reasonable and include all fuel costs. Instructor fees are in addition to equipment rental at $40 per hour for the single engine aircraft.
