CINCINNATI—September 16, 2017—Flamingo Air is excited to announce that owner Sharon McGee has been honored by Venue Media as a recipient of the 2017 Women of Influence Award.
Sharon McGee, a Xavier University alumnus, has been making an impact on Cincinnati’s youth as an educator for over twenty years, teaching at the high school and college level. She turned her aspirations skyward in 2001, becoming a private pilot and logging more than 450 total flight hours in her aviation career.
“I’ve always believed that the sky is the limit. It’s a value I’ve tried to instill in every student I’ve met,” McGee says. “I’ve been an educator, a pilot, and now I’m a female business owner in the thriving aviation industry. I’d like to think sometimes we mistake the clouds for a glass ceiling, and the truth is we can pass through if we work hard enough. In fact, I believe my fellow Women of Influence honorees are even more proof of that.”
The Women of Influence Award honors our region’s leading women who have helped shape the success of their organization and have demonstrated exceptional leadership. The criteria for the Women of Influence Award is based on the individual’s invaluable contributions, professional achievements and continuous dedication to their organization as well as their commitment to cultivating a thriving and progressive community.
